Modern furniture means the furniture manufactured on the later half of the 20th century with its very own style. Sometimes modern furniture is tagged as a ‘moderne’ or ‘mod’ just to differentiate it from contemporary pieces. This is normally made up of synthetic materials, such as tubular metal, vinyl etc.
History says, after the Second World War, the style of living of people demanded certain changes. In place of old type of furniture, people wanted something new and even they wanted re-design their existing furniture with a new concept. In this respect, concept of modern furniture comes into play. Old designs of ellipses, flares, oblongs were replaced by rectangle, square and circles.
Not only shape, colors and materials were also changed by modern designers. For example, hard wood replaced by acrylic, plywood; in place of leather, vinyl becomes the center of attraction in the market; dark brocades took away by bright color prints etc. After the monotony of old furnitures, modern and trendy furniture with its own distinguishing style has become the refresher of the mind of the modern people. To name few modern designers who rule over this era of modern furniture, are Hans Knoll, Herman Miller, Charles and Ray. The essence of the modern furniture is the simplicity and sleek design. That furniture can be placed in any place. Price range of this easily accommodative type of furniture varies widely. Modern furniture range does not only restrict its field on floor or surfaces, it also includes very attractive range of lighting too.
Design and illumination of various lights are according to the mood of the room. For example, to make your bedroom romantic, lighting source should be dimmer. To make walls even more eye-catchy, this trendsetting era of modern furniture also contributes in decorating walls with ravishing color of wall papers. Modern furniture also gives its special attention to the color of the furniture. Because color can be referred to as a mood controller. But colors must be chosen according to the daylight of the different parts of the world. So, it is somewhat a variable factor. It also goes in combination with the arrangement of lighting inside the room. If the paint of the wall and lighting influence the home-furnishing, then flooring should not take the back seat here. So it is to conclude that, in a modern age interior decoration can never be completed, if the vogue of modern furniture would not have been introduced.
